Toronto Mayoral Candidate Ana Bailao Unveils Plan To Tackle Housing Crisis

TORONTO – (May 1, 2023) This morning, surrounded by families, workers, and housing stakeholders, Ana Bailão announced her Housing Plan. Ana’s Housing Plan will put people first, build homes, and get City Hall moving to make life better and more affordable in Toronto.

Ana will take action to urgently build more homes, create pathways out of homelessness, and protect residents and renters who have homes today.

This Housing Plan will protect 237,000 renters, build 285,000 new homes with a minimum of 57,000 being purpose-built rental homes, and will directly support at least 95,000 vulnerable residents. The total cost of this Plan’s new initiatives is $48.5 million which will come from the City Building Fund which is forecast to generate an additional $60 million this year.

Ana has a track record of securing billions in investments from the provincial and federal governments for housing in Toronto. With the support of builders, unions, workers, Members of Parliament, Members of Provincial Parliament, and Councillors, Ana is the only candidate who will be able to secure funding from the provincial and federal governments to support people and build more homes.
