Toronto police have arrested a second suspect in a major auto-fraud investigation. The probe, which began in July, uncovered fraudulent vehicle transfers at Service Ontario locations. Winkle Lejarde, 43, was arrested on August 9 and faces 101 charges, including forgery and fraud.
A new arrest was made on Wednesday: Kris Kattick, 34, who is facing 95 charges, including forgery and fraud. Both men are accused of manipulating vehicle records, and the case is ongoing in court.
To avoid buying stolen or tampered vehicles, police advise checking a vehicle’s history report for signs of tampering, such as sudden color changes or unusual mileage records.
