Wrong-way Driver Charged With Impaired Driving After Crash On Highway 400 Near Barrie

June 24: A Toronto man is facing charges following an incident where he allegedly drove the wrong way on Highway 400 in Barrie, resulting in a collision, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

The OPP reported that the incident occurred when a southbound driver entered the northbound lanes at Mapleview, leading to a collision with another vehicle near Highway 89.

The driver of the vehicle traveling in the correct direction was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver responsible for the wrong-way driving also sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment.

An OPP spokesperson confirmed that a 51-year-old man from Toronto is now facing charges of impaired driving and dangerous driving in connection with the incident.

The section of Highway 400 affected by the collision was temporarily closed for investigation but has since been reopened to traffic.
