Diljit Dosanjh Makes History at Rogers Centre with his Milestone Performance; Gets a Surprise Visit from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

July 15: Indian singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has been striving for global recognition for years. He recently made significant strides in the United States with performances on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” a historic appearance at Coachella, and success at the North American box office with his Punjabi romantic comedy “Jatt & Juliet 3.” Now, he has turned his attention to Canada.

Over the past weekend, Diljit performed to a sold-out crowd at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, becoming the first Punjabi artist to achieve this milestone. He shared snippets of his performance on Instagram Stories, featuring popular tracks like “Born To Shine,” and the enthusiastic crowd’s reactions.

In a heartwarming moment before the show, Diljit received a surprise visit from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trudeau, dressed in a white t-shirt and brown trousers, met Diljit, who wore a yellow striped shirt and a red turban. The two shared a warm hug, and Trudeau also met Diljit’s team and crew. Together, they cheered the singer’s trademark phrase, “Punjabi aa gaye oye” (Punjabis are here).

Diljit captioned his Instagram post, “Diversity is our strength. Prime Minister @justinpjtrudeau came to check out history in the making: we sold out the Rogers Centre!” Trudeau also posted the video on his Instagram, along with a series of photos with Diljit and his crew. He wrote, “Stopped by the Rogers Centre to wish @diljitdosanjh good luck before his show. Canada is a great country — one where a guy from Punjab can make history and sell out stadiums. Diversity isn’t just our strength. It’s a superpower.”

Y Media was the Official Media Partner for Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati Tour Toronto Concert.
