39-year-old hospital worker, Islam Elmajbri, charged after patient sexually assaulted twice in Toronto ER

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of an arrest made in a Sexual Assault investigation.

On Friday, May 26, 2023, at 12:40 a.m., police responded to a call for a sexual assault in the Bathurst Street/Dundas Street West area.

It is alleged that:

  • a man attended a hospital for medical assistance
  • while in the emergency department, a personal care worker sexually assaulted the man in his room and again in the bathroom 

On Thursday, August 3, 2023, the personal care worker was arrested.

Islam Elmajbri, 39, of Toronto, was charged with:

  1. two counts of Sexual Assault

He is scheduled to appear on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 11 a.m., at the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armoury Street, in courtroom 203.

He has been employed as a personal care worker in various hospitals within the GTA. Police are concerned there may be more victims. Investigators are urging any person who believes they may be a victim to contact police.
