Man Found Safe After Vaughan Kidnapping, Suspects Still at Large: Police

July 14: A man allegedly kidnapped in Vaughan has been found safe, though the suspects remain at large, according to police.

York Regional Police (YRP) reported that the victim, 56-year-old Roberto Marchioni, was located in Scarborough near Morningside Avenue and Highway 401 early Sunday morning. Toronto police were alerted by a citizen who found Marchioni around 3 a.m. Paramedics treated him on scene for minor injuries, and he was found to be in good health.

The kidnapping occurred around 2 a.m. on Friday when Marchioni was leaving his business in Vaughan. He was approached and assaulted by two suspects who forced him into a 2020 Honda CRV LX. Images of the suspects and their vehicles, including a black Dodge Ram pickup truck, have been released.

The YRP’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation and urging the suspects to seek legal counsel and surrender. The police are dedicating significant resources to locate the suspects and are asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit or provide anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers.
