Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) announced today that Bikram Dhillon, CEO of BVD Group, and his family have made a significant donation to support the TMU School of Medicine in Brampton. The school recently welcomed its inaugural cohort of postgraduate medical residents, with over 100 trainees beginning in 16 newly accredited residency programs.
The Dhillon family’s multi-million-dollar gift will fund the creation of TMU’s new Medical Library and establish two student award programs designed to ease financial barriers for aspiring physicians.
The Bikram S. Dhillon and Family Scholarship, valued at up to $50,000 per student, will be awarded to five students who demonstrate a strong commitment to community health. Additionally, the Bikram S. Dhillon and Family Award will provide $5,000 annually to five incoming students of high academic standing.
In recognition of this contribution, the university will name the library The Bikram S. Dhillon and Family Medical Library — a key resource for study, research, and collaboration at the School of Medicine.
The Dhillon family’s generous support reflects their ongoing commitment to community development and their understanding of the critical need to strengthen both medical education and local healthcare.
