ZIP! POW! BANG! Comic Con is back at the Guelph Public Library on July 18

The Guelph Public Library’s Comic Con event returns to the Main Library (100 Norfolk Street) on Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This all-ages event is free and open to the public. The event will feature booths on the Library’s first and second floors, where visitors can explore vendors and connect with fellow fans of comics, games, animation, and pop culture. 

“We’re excited to welcome a wide variety of talented vendors, including comic book writers and illustrators, board game designers, crafters, and artists,” says Ben Lorimer, Teen Librarian at Guelph Public Library.  

“Our Comic Con event is a chance for the community to celebrate creativity, discover local talent, and connect through shared interests in comics, gaming, and fandom.”

Attendees can visit the second floor from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to receive a stylish glitter tattoo inspired by their favourite fandom or drop in to the gaming zone from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to take part in a video game challenge. 

Dress to impress in the Comic Con cosplay contest 

The Library will be hosting a cosplay contest in the Program Room on the second floor from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Participants can register in-person on the day of the event, or pre-register online before Friday, July 17, at 11:59 p.m. Prize values for the cosplay contest are $75 for first place, $50 for second, and $25 for third, as well as a door prize draw valued at $20. All entrants must sign in at the cosplay contest booth by 12 p.m. on the day of to secure their position and receive their competitor number.
