Bollywood star Ajay Devgn is making his television debut as the special host of Crime Patrol – Crime Ka Current Season, the latest edition of Sony Entertainment Television’s long-running crime series.
The new season premieres August 31 on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV, with Devgn guiding viewers through stories inspired by real-life crime cases.
Crime Patrol has long been associated with actor Anup Soni, who became one of the most recognizable faces of the franchise during his 11-year association with the show. Devgn’s arrival marks a significant change for the series as it begins its latest chapter.
Explaining why he decided to join the show, Devgn said he was particularly drawn to its focus on crime stories and the awareness they can create among viewers.
“What I find most intriguing about the show is that the stories are inspired by crime cases,” Devgn said in a statement.
He noted that some of the cases can be shocking because they demonstrate how unexpected crimes can occur within seemingly ordinary surroundings and involve people viewers might never suspect.
Devgn also highlighted the investigative side of the stories, saying the series demonstrates the effort and persistence required to solve complex cases.
The actor’s association with Crime Patrol adds television hosting to a career strongly associated with crime, action and thriller films, including the popular Drishyam franchise.
With Crime Patrol – Crime Ka Current Season, the makers are continuing the franchise’s focus on dramatized crime stories while using Devgn’s presence to guide audiences through the cases and their broader awareness message.
