OREA Statement On RECO’s Governance Transition To The New Board Of Directors

“Earlier this week, the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) announced that the regulator will transition governance authority to its new Board of Directors on September 9, following the conclusion of the appointment of Administrator and Acting CEO Jean Lépine.

The Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) would like to thank and recognize Mr. Lépine for his leadership to position the regulator for success in fulfilling its consumer protection mandate. His commitment to working closely with OREA, our Members and Member Boards, stakeholders, and our partners across Ontario’s organized real estate community will help renew confidence in the industry, with both real estate professionals and consumers.

Under Mr. Lépine’s leadership, RECO has made exceptional progress towards becoming a more modern, transparent, and proactive regulator. The advancement of reforms to strengthen consumer protection, ensure accountability, and modernize the governance framework are essential steps in order to build back trust.

We look forward to connecting with the incoming Board of Directors and the individual who will be stepping in as the regulator’s permanent CEO, as we continue to support RECO’s work in modernizing into the regulator that the real estate profession needs and deserves.”
