July 1: A tragic two-vehicle crash in Brampton early Monday morning has claimed the life of a woman in her 20s, according to police reports.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 50 and Coleraine Drive at 6:35 a.m. following reports of a collision involving a transport truck and another vehicle.
Peel paramedics initially assessed the female driver at the scene but did not transport her to the hospital. In a later update, Peel police confirmed that the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Despite the best efforts of our first responders, the driver of the motor vehicle, a young woman in her 20s, was pronounced deceased on scene,” Const. Richard Chin stated in a video posted on social media platform X.
The driver of the transport truck was unharmed and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation, Chin added.
The cause of the crash remains unknown at this time. Peel police’s major collision bureau is currently investigating the incident, and several road closures are in effect in the area.
