The Flower City Friends Club (FCFC) hosted a vibrant and meaningful celebration of Vaisakhi, Khalsa Day, Sikh Heritage Month, and World Autism Awareness Month at the Paul Pallechi Recreation Center, Brampton. The event witnessed an impressive turnout of over 125 members, reflecting strong community spirit, cultural pride, and inclusivity.
The program commenced with opening remarks by Chairperson Gian Paul, who warmly welcomed all guests and members. In his address, he highlighted the significance of Vaisakhi and Khalsa Day as symbols of courage, equality, and selfless service. He also emphasized the importance of Sikh Heritage Month in recognizing the contributions of the Sikh community, while drawing attention to World Autism Awareness Month and the need for greater understanding, acceptance, and support. with members. In addition, Rowena Santos conveyed a special message on the occasion of Vaisakhi and Khalsa Day for FCFC members.
In her message, Rowena Santos extended warm greetings and stated, “Vaisakhi and
Khalsa Day remind us of the values of equality, courage, and service to humanity. I
commend FCFC for bringing the community together in celebration while also promoting
awareness and inclusivity. Wishing everyone a joyful and meaningful Vaisakhi.”
A special highlight of the event was the presence of Gurbax Singh Malhi, whose
attendance added great pride to the gathering. Addressing the audience, he remarked, “Vaisakhi is not only a festival but a reminder of our identity, values, and responsibility to serve society. It is heartening to see organizations like FCFC preserving our heritage while engaging the community in meaningful initiatives.”
Paul Vicente appreciated the efforts of FCFC and remarked, “FCFC continues to strengthen community bonds in Brampton by organizing such inclusive and culturally rich events. It is wonderful to see members coming together in celebration and service.”
The celebration was filled with lively entertainment and enthusiastic participation from members, who showcased their talents through cultural performances, music, and dance. The program was skillfully conducted by Master of Ceremonies Kamal Babra, while stage coordination was efficiently managed by Joyti Dadilia, ensuring smooth and well-organized performances throughout.
A special highlight of the event was the celebration of birthdays for members born in March and April, adding warmth and joy to the occasion. Jaswinder Daind, President of FCFC, along with Kamal Babra, expressed heartfelt appreciation to members for their dedication to the Golden Hands Knitting Hope Project, recognizing their efforts in knitting caps for seniors and cancer patients, reflecting
compassion and community service.
The guests and members also enthusiastically participated in a fun-filled tambola game, further adding to the festive atmosphere. In his concluding remarks, Chairperson Gian Paul extended sincere thanks to all members, guests, and volunteers for their continued support and active participation. He emphasized that such unity and collective efforts are the true strength of FCFC.
