Another powerful winter storm is set to bring hazardous conditions across much of Eastern Canada today, with freezing rain, heavy snow and strong winds forecast from Ontario to Newfoundland and Labrador. Environment Canada says large parts of Ontario will see a mix of winter precipitation. Ottawa is expected to receive freezing rain, while areas near Lake Superior could be hit with heavy snowfall. Timmins may see totals reaching as high as 60 centimetres.
Quebec is also bracing for difficult conditions, with up to 25 centimetres of snow forecast in some regions north of Montreal. Across Atlantic Canada, weather warnings remain in effect for northern New Brunswick, most of Nova Scotia and all of Prince Edward Island, where freezing rain is expected to persist through the night. In Newfoundland and Labrador, a yellow weather warning has been issued for high winds and blowing snow in the southwest, while northeastern parts of the province are under a freezing rain advisory. The latest system comes after a turbulent week of winter weather across the country, marked by repeated storms that have brought blizzards, bitter cold and widespread freezing rain.
