Toyota Canada Releases August Sales Results

Record sales of electrified vehicles accounted for 46.6% of total sales in August 19,718 units were sold in August, an increase of 26.8% over the previous year Lexus had a record August

Toyota Canada Inc.’s (TCI) record electrified vehicle sales continued to rise in August, accounting for 46.6% of the company’s total sales. Both the Toyota and Lexus divisions sold record numbers of electrified vehicles in August.

Electrified vehicles accounted for 44.4% of all Toyota units sold in August 2023, with record sales for the RAV4 Hybrid (up 117.0%), RAV4 Prime Plug-in Hybrid (up 470.8%) and Corolla Hybrid ( up 363.9%), including a strong first month of sales for the Grand Highlander Hybrid.

Electrified vehicles also accounted for 61% of total Lexus units sold in August 2023. Demand was particularly strong for the NX Hybrid, NX Plug-in Hybrid and RX Hybrid (up 515.3%), with the latter even registering a month record.

A total of 1,749 ZEV vehicles were sold in August across Toyota and Lexus’ electrified vehicle lineup.

A strong month of August

In total, TCI sold 19,718 vehicles in August 2023, an increase of 26.8% compared to August 2022.

The Toyota division sold 17,118 units, up 26.8% from August 2022. The Corolla Cross and Tundra both set records in August while the Grand Highlander Hybrid had a strong first month of sales.

Lexus also had a strong month, with a record August, selling 2,600 units, up 26.7% from August 2022, with August sales records for the RX lineups and NX, as well as the convertible LC.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) vehicles assembled in Canada led sales

Sales of the Toyota RAV4, Canada’s top-selling passenger vehicle, rose 36.9% on strong sales of the RAV4 Hybrid in August. The Lexus RX and Lexus NX, manufactured by TMMC, also posted strong sales in August, including a record for the RX lineup.
