President Donald Trump is set to welcome Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House next Monday, according to a U.S. administration official.
The meeting comes as Trump intensifies efforts to press the Israeli government toward securing a ceasefire and hostage deal to help bring an end to the conflict in Gaza. The official, who was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity, noted that the visit has yet to be formally announced. Netanyahu’s planned trip follows a visit to Washington by Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer, who met with senior U.S. officials to discuss the Gaza ceasefire, Iran, and other regional issues.
Trump has recently indicated in public remarks that he is focusing on ending the hostilities between Israel and Hamas, especially after a ceasefire agreement was reached a week ago to halt 12 days of clashes involving Israel and Iran.
