New Delhi, May 9 – India has strongly condemned Pakistan for escalating its aggression through a massive drone offensive and a sustained disinformation campaign aimed at misleading the international community. In a joint press briefing under ‘Operation Sindoor’, top officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and women officers of the Indian Armed Forces exposed Pakistan’s recent provocations, including firing 300–400 drones at around 36 locations along the western border and targeting civilian infrastructure, including a Gurdwara in Jammu and Kashmir.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri slammed Pakistan for sinking to “new depths” in its disinformation tactics. He cited Pakistan Army’s heavy mortar shelling in J&K’s Poonch, which struck a Gurdwara and resulted in the deaths of members of the Sikh community, including a Ragi (priest). Despite the evidence, Pakistan falsely accused India of targeting cities like Amritsar and religious sites such as the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan.

“This is nothing but a desperate attempt by Pakistan to disown its acts of aggression. Their pattern of deceit and communal propaganda is aimed at creating discord, but it will not succeed,” said Misri. He also confirmed that the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor has been closed until further notice due to the prevailing security situation.

Revealing the military aspect of Pakistan’s aggression, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh disclosed that Pakistan launched approximately 300–400 drones—reportedly of Turkish origin—across India’s western border between the nights of May 8 and 9. The UAVs targeted around 36 locations, attempting infiltration, intelligence gathering, and testing India’s air defence.

“All their attempts were neutralised by India’s robust kinetic and non-kinetic response mechanisms,” said Colonel Qureshi, adding that the drones violated Indian airspace on multiple occasions and targeted military infrastructure. One such drone tried to strike the Bhatinda military station but was intercepted and neutralised.

Wing Commander Singh revealed that India retaliated by launching armed drones at four Pakistani air defence sites, successfully destroying one of their radar systems.

The forensic analysis of the wreckage is ongoing, but preliminary findings suggest that the drones were Turkish Asisguard Songar models. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized that Pakistan’s pattern of deception and aggression only underscores its deepening desperation and will continue to be met with strong, proportionate Indian responses.
