28th Annual Golf Classic Raises Record-Breaking $233,120 for Trillium Health Partners

Committed golfers chipped in to raise record amount of funds for the future home of The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital

For the 28th year in a row, a dedicated group of golfers came together to support health care for the West GTA. The annual Golf Classic raised a record-breaking $233,120 – the most ever raised for this event in its history. The funds will help build the largest and most advanced hospital in Canada, the future home of The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital, which is a vital part of Trillium Health Partners’ (THP) infrastructure renewal plan.

The current Mississauga Hospital opened in 1958 and is now a major regional centre, providing a broad range of specialized, life-saving care including cardiac health, stroke, neurosurgery, and more. Trillium Health Partners already cares for the largest population in the province and faces more growth in demand by 2041 than any other hospital, with the West GTA projected to grow from 2.2 million to 3.3 million residents.

The new hospital will be almost triple the size of the current site and will have over 950 beds, two-thirds more surgical capacity, and one of the largest emergency departments in the country. The future home of The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital is set to be a complete replacement of the existing facility and will serve the needs of the growing and increasingly diverse community. For patients and their families, the new hospital will mean shorter wait times and greater specialization closer to home with more doctors, nurses and support staff.

The funds raised at the 2023 Golf Classic, which was once again held at the famed Glen Abbey course, will help pay for Trillium Health Partners’ portion of the project costs. The event was made possible thanks to the generosity of EllisDon (Lead Sponsor), Furcon Environmental Inc. (On Course Activities Sponsor), Obsidian Group Inc. (Cart Path & Golfer Gift Sponsor), AC Mechanical Contractors Ltd. (Cocktail Reception Sponsor), Purolator (Breakfast Sponsor), GP Custom Metals (Golf Cart Sponsor), Borden Ladner Gervais – BLG (Bag Drop Sponsor), Teknicor (Registration Sponsor), K-Bro Linen Systems (Golfer Passport Sponsor), Kenaidan Contracting Ltd. (Gold Sponsor), ICON (Print Sponsor) Trane Canada ULC (Eagle Sponsor), AC Mechanical Contractors Ltd., Agnew Peckham, Cisco/OnX, Cushman & Wakefield, Guild Electric, Modern Niagara, The Enns Group (Hole Sponsors), PEEL Chrysler (Hole in One Sponsor), Dobel Tequila, Palma Pasta, IGV-Ltd Operating Tim Hortons at THP-Hospitals (Gift in Kind Sponsors), and others who supported the cause. A special thank you to our committee who helped organize the event and all participants, who ensure the annual event continues to be a success year after year.

“We are thrilled to have such a dedicated group of hospital supporters who join us every year for a fun day of golf,” said Shannon Van Rassel, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Community Engagement at Trillium Health Partners Foundation. “Community support is key to our success, and we are grateful for everyone who contributed to this year’s event.”
