Authorities are investigating a tragic murder-suicide that occurred at a 7-Eleven convenience store on October 17, 2025, leaving a store employee dead and the suspected shooter also deceased.
Police say 37-year-old Pardeep Kumar, an employee at the store, was shot and killed by 26-year-old Ryan Taylor, who then turned the gun on himself. Taylor, a U.S. Army veteran, reportedly entered the store with another individual before the incident unfolded.
Security footage reviewed by investigators shows Taylor briefly greeting another person before approaching the counter, where he shot Kumar, killing him instantly. Taylor then died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit confirmed there was no known connection between Kumar and Taylor. Evidence at the scene indicates the shooting was an isolated murder-suicide.
Authorities have not released further details about a possible motive. Police noted that the investigation remains ongoing.
