The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has denied allegations that it abandoned protesters after calling off its demonstration at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, insisting it will continue to support those arrested or facing police action.
In a video posted on X, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said party representatives held a two-to-three-hour meeting with officials from the central government following the protest. According to Das, the government provided notifications from Bihar and Assam promising the withdrawal of FIRs, the release of detainees and assurances that no further action would be taken against protesters.
Das added that the Centre also pledged to issue similar guarantee notifications from the Union government and other BJP/NDA-ruled states, saying the party expects those commitments to be formalized. “No protester will be left alone. We are all in this together,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Junaid, a volunteer who gained attention for distributing food and water to protesters during the demonstrations, rejected rumours that CJP leaders had distanced themselves from him. In a video posted on Instagram, Junaid said the party’s leadership continues to support him and dismissed claims to the contrary as false.
Junaid had earlier alleged that police detained members of his family in Ghaziabad and harassed relatives in Meerut because of his involvement in the protests. However, Meerut Police have denied taking any action against his family.
The movement also received backing from the All India Students’ Association (AISA), whose national president Neha Bora called for an end to what she described as state repression while linking the campaign against examination irregularities to broader student-led movements.
