Security was stepped up across Punjab’s Mansa district after authorities received a handwritten letter threatening bomb attacks against the Mansa District Court Complex and four schools, prompting evacuations and extensive searches.
The letter reportedly identified schools in Khiwa Kalan, Hero Kalan and Atla Kalan villages, along with the Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Mansa city. It warned that attacks could take place on September 21 and 22. Authorities evacuated the schools as a precaution and increased security around the district court complex.
Mansa Senior Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Chaudhary said the letter was recovered in the Bhikhi area. Police deployed bomb disposal squads to the locations named in the threat and conducted searches, but no suspicious objects or explosive material were found.
Chaudhary said precautionary searches would continue at the identified locations as security remains heightened. Police have also launched an investigation to determine who wrote and circulated the threatening letter.
Investigators are sending the handwritten communication to handwriting experts for examination in an effort to trace its origin and assess the threat. Authorities have not reported finding any explosives, but police remain alert while the investigation continues.
