Premier Ford And PM Carney Set To Announce New Support For Canada’s Steel, Auto And Critical Minerals Industries

Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ontario Premier Doug Ford are expected to announce new support measures for Canada’s steel and automotive industries, which have been significantly affected by U.S. tariffs.

According to the Prime Minister’s official schedule, Carney will meet with Ford on Parliament Hill today, followed by a joint announcement at 2 p.m. ET.

A source familiar with the discussions indicated that additional support for the critical minerals sector may also be included in the announcement.

Federal Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne and Ontario’s finance minister are also expected to attend.

The announcement comes as the federal government prepares to present its second budget on November 5, a date confirmed by Champagne on Tuesday.

Following the announcement, Carney is scheduled to travel to Ankara, Turkey, later today.
