A Hole in One for Health Care in Brampton as Golf Tournament Raises more than $234,000 for Local Hospitals

On Monday, June 5, 144 golfers hit the links at the Pulpit Golf Club in Caledon Village for the 16th annual Osler Open: Brampton Invitational presented by IFS. William Osler Health System Foundation’s (Osler Foundation) annual golf tournament raised $234,500 in support of William Osler Health System (Osler). The funds will purchase critical new technology and support redevelopment projects at Osler’s Brampton hospitals: Brampton Civic Hospital and Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.

After a shotgun start, golfers enjoyed a day of scramble play on the beautiful and exciting course, followed by a cocktail reception. “We are thrilled to be at the picturesque Pulpit for a fantastic day of golf,” said Ken Mayhew, President & CEO, William Osler Health System Foundation. “This event is more than just a fun day on the links. It’s an opportunity to be a part of something truly transformative for the Brampton community. Osler is dedicated to building a health care system for the future, and the support here today will help do just that. As we look forward to exciting developments across Osler, we are grateful for the continued support of our sponsors, golfers, donors and volunteers.”

In Ontario, all equipment in a hospital must be funded by the community, along with a portion of construction costs. Funds raised from this event will support Osler’s redevelopment projects as the organization continues to expand to meet the growing needs of the communities it serves. Peel Memorial
will be transformed into Brampton’s new hospital, comprising a multi-storey tower with 250 inpatient beds and space to add more in the future, new and expanded inpatient and outpatient services, and increased access to 24/7 emergency services, while plans are also in the works for a comprehensive cancer care centre at Brampton Civic.

“We’re on an exciting journey that will increase hospital and health care capacity for years to come, and the support of our community is vital,” said Dr. Frank Martino, President & CEO, William Osler Health System.

“On behalf of our dedicated teams at Osler, I extend heartfelt thanks for the generous support of the Osler Open: Brampton Invitational participants, for making a lasting impact on the health of our community.”

“We are honored to be the presenting sponsor for the Osler Open: Brampton Invitational,” said Paul Bhullar, President, IFS. “At the heart of every thriving community lies access to excellent health care services, and we are thrilled to be a part of Osler’s mission to provide top-quality care right here in our own backyard. Through our partnership, we are not only supporting a worthy cause, but also empowering Osler to continue delivering life-changing and life-saving medical treatments to those who need it. Together, we are building a stronger and healthier community for everyone.”

The Osler Open: Brampton Invitational Golf Tournament was made possible with generous support from
presenting sponsor IFS. Additional sponsorships were generously provided by Orlando Corporation, S.
Robinson and Associates of RBC Dominion Securities, LiUNA! Local 183 and BVD Group.
