Peel Police Arrest Suspect Linked to Violent Armed Home Invasions in Brampton and Mississauga

Region of Peel– Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Bureau have charged one male in connection to violent armed home invasions at residences in Brampton and Mississauga.

On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 12:30 a.m., at least three suspects forced their way into a residence near Glen Erin Dive and Burnhamthorpe Road, the City in Mississauga. The victim, who was present at the time of the incident, attempted to intervene and stop the home invasion.  One of the suspects was armed with a firearm and shot the victim.  The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects fled the residence using a vehicle that had been previously reported stolen in Toronto.

Following the home invasion, the suspect who had the firearm attempted a similar home invasion in Toronto, where he was arrested.

Investigators have also connected the suspect to two other home invasions that occurred on October 12 and 14, 2024 in Brampton and Mississauga.  In those home invasions, several suspects forced entry to homes and made demands for money, jewelry, electronics, and vehicle keys. One victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the robberies.

On Friday, November 15, 2024, investigators arrested Burhan Abdulkadir, a 28-year-old male of no fixed address.  He is charged with the following charges in relation to the home invasions:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Being the Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

He was held for a bail hearing.

This investigation remains ongoing and police anticipate more charges could be laid.
