A reward of up to $250,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of Cristian Adolfo Cuxum, wanted in the brazen murder of 49-year-old referee Edwin Farley Alvarado Quintero during a Toronto soccer game. Two others were injured in the shooting on October 9, 2022.
The Bolo Program announced the reward today for the number one spot on an updated Top 25 list of Canada’s most wanted individuals, alongside members of the Toronto Police Service, Toronto Crime Stoppers, and police partners from across the country, who were gathered at Yonge-Dundas Square. Today marks five years since the Bolo Program launched its first campaign, also in Toronto.
The following statement was released by Edwin’s wife, Alexandra Barrera:
I should be at home, preparing for the arrival of our friends and the vallenato band I wanted to hire. Edwin loved vallenato music. It represented a little piece of our country, Colombia — the country he left three years ago because we believed Canada would be safer for our family. I thought having a vallenato band would be the perfect way to celebrate his 50th birthday. Today would have been Edwin’s 50th birthday.
Instead of preparing for that party, I am here. And instead of enjoying Edwin’s party with him later today, I will be visiting him at the cemetery.
Edwin was all things good. He was respectful, dependable, kind, and patient. He was enthusiastic in everything he did. Edwin always wanted to help people. Back home in Colombia, he was a teacher and a psychologist and an avid cyclist. He loved cycling. He loved soccer. He loved me and our children. He loved being a dad. And he was a really, really good one. The best dad. The best husband. From the beginning until the end.
Every day I am tortured by all the things I do not know. How did this happen? What if I had been there? Was he afraid? Did he suffer? Why my Edwin? Why us? We thought we lived in the safest place in the world. This is Canada.
To the man who took Edwin’s life: You destroyed us. You destroyed our family. You destroyed our plans. Our dreams. Our sense of safety. Our everything. You cannot make that right. But if you turn yourself in, you will allow us to take our next step forward in this nightmare. Maybe then, one day, we can answer the questions that haunt us each day.
And to everyone watching this, if you know where this wanted man is, please, call in a tip. Help us move forward. Help us all feel safe again.

Other Toronto suspects on the Top 25 list revealed Monday include:
- Kiarash Parzham, wanted for the 2022 murder of Kian Hoseyni (reward up to $50,000)
- Jabreel Elmi, wanted for the 2021 murder of Thane Murray (reward up to $50,000)
- Rajahden Angus Campbell, also wanted for the 2021 murder of Thane Murray
- Kamar Cunningham, wanted for firearms trafficking
- Phillip Grant, wanted for the 2022 murders of Minyali Wur and Chudier Reat
