1 March: The International Women’s Day 2025 music video from Councillor Santos and her band Point of Order, has been released. Under the United Nations theme of Accelerate Action, the video covers the song “All I know so far” written by Pink.
“Each year it is a special honour, through music, to personally express the theme of International Women’s Day and celebrate women in Brampton and around the world,” says Santos. “The lyrics of this song were perfect for this year’s IWD theme to accelerate action through our collective wisdom. It encourages our girls to be unstoppable in the face of adversity and to always remain true to oneself. To be fearless and passionate in achieving your goals. And know that you are supported along the way.”
Part of accelerating action is providing opportunities for women and girls to shine. Singers from the Brampton Children’s Chorus and nieces of Councillor Santos participated.
“It was the first time that these talented girls ever stepped into a recording studio. Having them sing the lyrics of this song with their mom’s proudly watching them through the glass window of the production room, was an incredibly moving experience,” Santos shares.
Also participating were Councillor Navjit Brar, and other women leaders who shared advice to their younger selves.
“Knowing what we know now, there is so much to more to do with glass ceilings to break through and barriers to overcome. All of this advice still applies to my generation as much as it applies to the next. Our journey is ‘to be continued’ as stated at the end of the music video.
