Firefighters battle early-morning blaze at Vaughan strip mall; police urge public to avoid area

Fire crews and police remain on scene at a Vaughan strip mall after an early-morning blaze broke out near Dufferin and Centre streets on Tuesday. York Regional Police say the fire was first reported around 5:10 a.m. on Dec. 2, prompting a large emergency response from both Vaughan Fire and Rescue and police units. While no injuries have been reported, authorities warn that fire suppression efforts and the investigation will continue for much of the day.

In an online update, York police advised residents to steer clear of the area due to significant fire and police presence. Roads in the vicinity may experience closures or disruptions as crews work to fully extinguish the blaze and assess the damage. Officials are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact York Regional Police as the investigation continues.
