Embrave: Agency to End Violence has received funding to build an accessible playground. This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Enabling Accessibility Fund.
Working to Create Accessible Infrastructures
“Disability Justice is central to the work we do. This means we identify ableism as an experience of oppression at the individual, community, and societal levels. This grant will allow for us to ensure our playground structure is barrier free. This project funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Enabling Accessibility Fund will ensure that everyone who accesses Embrave’s services will be able to utilize the playground structure without the hindrance of any barriers.” said Sabrina Wisson, Office Coordinator.
Eliminating Barriers in Our Physical Premises
During the pandemic, playgrounds became of particular importance in the daily lives of survivors and their children. With this project we will ensure that the playground is in alignment with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities (AODA’s), Ontario Playground for Kids with Disability Guidelines.
Ending Gender Based Violence
“It is only through the generous support of funders that we will achieve our mutual goal of providing responsive and accessible supports to survivors of gender-based violence. With this project, we will ensure that every child who stays at Embrave can learn and heal through play on this new accessible playground.” Rebecca Pacheco, Public Education and Community Collaboration Coordinator.
