India’s cumulative merchandise and services exports rose by an estimated 13.16 per cent during the April-July period of fiscal year 2026-27, reaching US$316.42 billion compared with US$279.63 billion during the same period a year earlier.
Merchandise exports recorded particularly strong growth, increasing 17.04 per cent to US$173.78 billion during April-July 2026-27. This compares with US$148.48 billion recorded during the corresponding four-month period of 2025-26.
Non-petroleum exports also continued to expand. Cumulative non-petroleum exports were valued at US$143.61 billion during April-July, up 12.79 per cent from US$127.32 billion in the same period last year.
Several major sectors contributed to merchandise export growth in July, led by petroleum products, electronics, engineering goods, organic and inorganic chemicals, and cotton yarn, fabrics, made-ups and handloom products.
Petroleum product exports recorded the sharpest increase among the major categories, surging 67.64 per cent from US$4.13 billion in July 2025 to US$6.92 billion in July 2026.
Electronic goods exports jumped 57.40 per cent year-over-year, rising from US$3.76 billion to US$5.92 billion. Engineering goods exports increased 17.71 per cent, from US$10.40 billion in July 2025 to US$12.24 billion in July 2026.
Exports of organic and inorganic chemicals climbed 14.39 per cent to US$2.80 billion from US$2.45 billion a year earlier.
Meanwhile, exports of cotton yarn, fabrics, made-ups and handloom products increased 8.40 per cent, reaching US$1.11 billion compared with US$1.02 billion in July 2025.
The figures indicate broad-based growth across several key export industries, with petroleum products and electronic goods recording the strongest year-over-year gains in July.
