Indus Community Services Congratulates Sewing Program Class Graduates

Indus Community Services celebrated as another group of graduates have successfully demonstrated exceptional skills while enrolled in the Sewing & Alterations Program for Newcomer Women. Throughout the 9-week program at the 60 Gillingham site, clients were able to learn and acquire skills related to sewing, managing equipment, their own business and become confident in what they can create.

“Congratulations to our dedicated and talented sewing program graduates for successfully completing the program. A big thanks to our funder, IRCC, for supporting us in training these newcomer women to acquire new skills and integrate into our community.” Manjot Sekhon, Manager of Settlement & Employment Programs at the Brampton location

The program requires zero sewing prerequisites, as it presents a welcoming opportunity for newcomer women who have an interest in learning sewing from scratch or are looking to gain more experience. Indus offers accommodations for these students, as they provide both transportation assistance and free childcare as these women practice and hone their skills.

The next cohort for the Sewing Program will begin on January 27that 3038 Hurontario, Suite 206, Mississauga. For more information, please email employmentservices@induscs.ca or call 905-275-2369 Ext. 1293.
