Iron Willed: Women in STEM
On now – January 2024
Do women and girls, as well as their parents, educators, and employers, see themselves equitably represented in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields? Women have made significant contributions to STEM – and continue to do so – but their stories are often untold. Why is that? This travelling display from Ingenium, Canada’s Museum of Science and Innovation, shares some of these stories and provides recognition for the crucial role of women in STEM.
Connections: Art + Book Club
Thursday, June 22, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Literature and visual arts connect in this distinctive book club. Join Brampton Library and PAMA for an in-person discussion about women in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields. We will be reading Bonnie Garmus’ novel, Lessons in Chemistry, about a female chemist in the 1960s, whose approach to domesticity changes the status quo for women. We will also tour the exhibition Iron Willed: Women in STEM. This exhibition features the barriers women have faced within STEM and their successes.
The discussion and tour will take place at PAMA. Pre-registration required with Brampton Library.
Sunday FUNday with Challenge Island
Sunday, June 25, 2 – 3:30 p.m.
Challenge Island – Mississauga and PAMA are proud to bring you an exciting family engagement workshop! Supporting our youth by encouraging their imagination and developing their talents is a great way of unlocking their superpowers to become difference makers in this ever-changing world.
