Osler Foundation’s 11th Annual Holi Gala Raises More than $1.92 Million for Osler Hospitals

Brampton/Etobicoke – On Saturday evening, William Osler Health System Foundation
(Osler Foundation) welcomed more than 850 guests to the 11th annual Holi Gala – Festival of Colours
presented by BVD Group. The sold out event, which featured a high-energy performance by Indo-Canadian singer Sarbjit Cheema, raised more than $1.92 million in support of William Osler Health System (Osler).

Guests of Osler Foundation’s 11th annual Holi Gala were entertained by Indo-Canadian singer,
Sarbjit Cheema. The sold-out event raised more than $1.92 million in support of William Osler Health System.

Funds raised will support the transformation of Peel Memorial into Brampton’s new hospital, bring expanded cancer care services to Brampton Civic Hospital, and fund vital equipment needs at Etobicoke General Hospital. Adding to the generous support received from Holi Gala sponsors and attendees, Osler Foundation President and CEO, Ken Mayhew, announced a $1 million gift from an anonymous donor, saying, “this is the power of community, the power of giving back, and the power of coming together for a cause greater than ourselves.”

Proceeds from the event’s Fund A Need donation rally will support expanded cardiac services at Osler, including building a new cardiac catheterization lab at Brampton Civic Hospital to help meet the growing
demand for cardiovascular care in the community. “Holi Gala is a beautiful example of what we can accomplish when we work together for a common goal,” said Bikram Dhillon, President, BVD Group. “The need for health care will touch all of us, so it’s up to all of us to do our part in support. I am incredibly proud of the community for once again standing shoulder to shoulder for our hospitals.” “This event gets more exciting with each passing year, and that is thanks to the creative and committed volunteer Holi Gala committee, ably led by co-chairs Dr. Gurjit Bajwa and Pal Ghumman, and the passionate supporters who helped us reach our fundraising goal with incredible energy,” said Ken Mayhew, President and CEO, William Osler Health System Foundation. “As our community continues to grow, so, too, will our health system, to provide the care we all need. We are grateful to the many sponsors and donors who stepped up to help us raise $1.92 million in support of critical redevelopment and equipment needs across Osler’s hospitals.” Event guests took part in a silent auction and enjoyed a cocktail reception sponsored by CIBC before enjoying a gourmet dinner sponsored by In N Out Carwash and Detailing Centre.
