For the Y Media mobile app (iOS and Android) · Effective 1 September 2026
This policy explains what the Y Media app does and does not do with your information. It is published by Asian World Today Inc., which operates Y Media Group and South Asian Daily.
The short version
The app has no accounts and no sign-in. You can watch every channel, listen to every station, read the newspaper and browse the archive without giving us anything at all. The only time the app sends us information about you is when you choose to fill in the Contact Us form and press Send.
What we collect
Nothing, unless you use the contact form. There is no account to create, no profile to fill in, and no login of any kind.
When you submit the Contact Us form, the app sends us:
- the name you type in
- the email address you type in
- the subject you choose
- the message you write
That message is delivered to ymedia@southasiandaily.com so a member of the team can read it and reply. We use it for that purpose and no other. We do not add you to a mailing list, sell your details, or share them with anyone outside Y Media.
Delivery is handled by Web3Forms, a form-relay service that turns your submission into an email to us. Your message passes through their systems in transit. Their privacy policy is at web3forms.com/privacy.
We keep contact-form emails for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and to keep a record of correspondence. You can ask us to delete yours at any time using the details below.
What we do not collect
- No advertising identifiers, and no advertising in the app
- No tracking of you across other apps or websites
- No location data
- No contacts, photos, microphone or camera access
- No analytics or behavioural profiling of individual users
- No usernames or passwords — the app has no login
Content from other services
The app shows material that lives elsewhere. Opening those parts of the app connects your device to those services directly, and their own privacy policies apply to that connection — typically including your IP address and basic technical information about your device, as happens whenever you visit any website:
- YouTube / Google — video listings, thumbnails, view and like counts, and comments shown in the app. Tapping “Comment on YouTube” hands you over to the YouTube app or website, where Google’s policy applies.
- Live TV and radio streams — delivered by our streaming providers.
- southasiandaily.com — news articles and the e-paper archive.
- FlipHTML5 — the newspaper reader used for past editions.
- Social platforms — links that open Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or X.
We do not receive personal information back from any of these services about what you watched or read.
Stored on your device
The app keeps a small cache of listings and images on your phone so it loads quickly and uses less data. That cache stays on your device, is never sent to us, and is removed if you delete the app.
Children
The app is a general news and entertainment service and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us their details through the contact form, write to us and we will delete it.
Your rights
If you have sent us a message through the app, you can ask what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email ymedia@southasiandaily.com and we will action it. Because the app collects nothing else, there is usually nothing else to request.
Changes
If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top before the new version is released.
