Satya Nadela meets Indian PM Modi

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, reinforcing India’s growing role in global AI leadership. During the meeting, Nadella announced a landmark USD 17.5 billion (₹1.5 lakh crore) investment to expand AI infrastructure, digital capabilities, and workforce training across the country — Microsoft’s largest commitment in Asia to date.

He thanked the Prime Minister for what he described as an “inspiring conversation” on India’s technological momentum, stating that Microsoft will support India’s ambition to build an AI-first future with strong sovereign data systems, cloud expansion, and advanced skilling initiatives.

The talks formed part of Nadella’s multi-city India visit, which includes Bengaluru and Mumbai, aimed at scaling Microsoft’s AI and cloud partnerships. The renewed commitment signals deeper India-US technology collaboration at a time when India is rapidly becoming a central hub for AI innovation, semiconductor development, and digital trade.

Alongside Nadella’s visit, PM Modi also held discussions with global tech leaders from Cognizant and Intel, all aligning on accelerating AI deployment, enhancing semiconductor capacity, and expanding skilling programs — further anchoring India as a critical innovation base for next-generation technology.
