Sheikh Hasina issues statement on arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das: ‘Unjustly held, must be released immediately’

Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday issued a statement in support of Hindu priest Chinmoy Krishna Das who was arrested earlier this week and was sent to jail by a Chattogram court on sedition charges, sparking massive protests by members of the Hindu community in India and outside. Chinmoy was earlier expelled from ISKCON. Hasina urged the Bangladesh government to release him immediately and called the move to jail a saint ‘unjust’.
