Toronto Police Release Video of North York Plaza Shooting That Killed University Student; Suspects Sought in Homicide Investigation

Sep 8: Toronto police have released surveillance footage in connection with a fatal shooting at a North York plaza that claimed the life of a 21-year-old university student, Arslan Ahmad. The incident occurred on August 27 near Sheppard Avenue West and Weston Road when two suspects exited a vehicle and opened fire in a busy parking lot. Ahmad, who was visiting the area with a friend, was struck and later died in the hospital.

Investigators are now seeking three suspects involved in the shooting, including the driver of a white Toyota RAV4 seen fleeing the scene. The brazen attack took place while many businesses in the plaza were still open, putting multiple bystanders at risk. A second person was injured but is expected to recover.

Police are urging anyone with dashcam or surveillance footage from the area around the time of the incident to come forward. The video footage has been released to the public in hopes of identifying the suspects responsible for the tragic shooting.
