The Town of Oakville is excited to embark on creating a new, bold vision for the future of transportation with an update to its Transportation Master Plan (TMP). As part of this work, the town is inviting residents to get involved to help shape the future of transportation within the community, that will accommodate growth to 2051.
The TMP will establish a comprehensive multi-modal plan with policies, programs and infrastructure improvements to enhance mobility for all road users, including a focus on more sustainable modes of travel such as walking, cycling and transit, supporting the town’s vision to be a vibrant and livable community for all.
With changing demographics, technological advancements, and environmental considerations, the updated plan will reflect the needs and aspirations of residents and visitors for today and info the future.
At the first Public Information Centre (PIC) on December 7, members of the public can speak with town staff to learn about the TMP study process, key project objectives, challenges and opportunities for Oakville’s transportation network and provide valuable insight to help inform the TMP update.
Thursday, December 7 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Town Hall, 1225 Trafalgar Road
South Atrium
A staff presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will also be live streamed on the town’s YouTube channel.
Over the coming weeks, residents are also invited to share input through an online survey, and at a pop-up event at the Oakville Public Library – Central Branch to take place later this winter. Additional engagement opportunities will be planned for spring 2024 to provide residents with an opportunity to review the TMP’s draft recommendations, as well as in fall 2024 to present the final draft report and implementation plan.

“As we prepare for future growth across the town, we’re exploring opportunities to ensure people can get to where they need to be using more sustainable modes of travel. The Transportation Master Plan represents a blueprint for managing the evolution of mobility in Oakville into the future. It offers a lens through which staff and Council can use to evaluate options and make decisions as it informs the prioritization, design, operation and maintenance of town transportation infrastructure and how we build our community.”
