Canada’s first and longest-running Diwali Gala is back for its 22nd year, hosted by the Trillium Health Partners Foundation. On Friday, November 3rd, guests can experience the rhythmic sounds, stunning hues and bold flavours of the Festival of Lights, all while raising funds for Trillium Health Partners in support of a noble cause: the development of Canada’s largest hospital, the future home of The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital.
Over the course of 21 years, the Trillium Diwali Gala has successfully raised an impressive $12.7 million dedicated to supporting priority needs of the hospital. Diwali, a cherished South Asian tradition, celebrates the symbolic victory of truth and illumination prevailing over darkness. The “Festival of Light,” as Diwali is often referred to, is celebrated by many members of the community that Trillium Health Partners serves.
Once again, the event features a lineup of outsized talent guaranteed to capture the energy and spirit of contemporary South Asian culture. That includes esteemed Global News anchor Colin D’Mello, who returns to the Trillium Diwali Gala as the evening’s emcee for his fifth consecutive year. Raghav will take the stage as this year’s headliner, best known for blending an R&B and Reggae flair into traditional Bollywood music. Canada’s premier dance academy, the Bollywood School of Dance, will demonstrate a dazzling display of energy and passion, weaving together the vibrant colours, captivating rhythms and infectious enthusiasm of Bollywood. Attendees can then light up the dance floor to the electrifying sounds of DJ Baba Kahn, Canada’s most celebrated club DJ who has performed with icons like 50 Cent, Sean Paul, and Destiny’s Child.
Trillium Health Partners is one of the largest hospitals in the country, proudly serving 2.2 million people in the diverse communities of West Toronto, Mississauga and Peel Region. THP continues to face record patient volumes with more projected growth in demand than any other hospital in Ontario by 2041. To help meet this growing need for care, the 2023 Trillium Diwali Gala will raise funds for the all-new Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital, the largest and most advanced hospital in Canada, to replace the current Mississauga Hospital. Almost triple the size of the existing structure, the new hospital will offer the increased capacity, modern technology and latest standards needed to meet the health care needs of the community in the decades ahead.
