Trillium Health Partners Marks Significant Milestone Toward the Shah Family Hospital for  Women and Children

Inpatient services to integrate at the Credit Valley Hospital beginning October 8, 2025

Trillium Health Partners announced a  significant step toward the future of women’s and children’s health care with the planned  integration of all women’s and children’s inpatient services at the Credit Valley Hospital, set to  begin October 8, 2025.

Birthing, neonatal intensive care, gynecology, and paediatric services and teams will come  together under one roof at the Credit Valley Hospital in preparation for the construction of the  future Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children. The new hospital will be located at the site of the current Mississauga Hospital when construction is complete. Once built, the future  Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children will be Ontario’s first purpose-built hospital  dedicated to women’s and children’s care, as announced in 2024.

Trillium Health Partners is taking these steps now to enhance care, expand access, and  optimize how services are delivered. Bringing all inpatient women’s and children’s services  together at the Credit Valley Hospital—and later at the future Shah Family Hospital for Women  and Children—will create a more seamless, coordinated experience for patients and families.  This integration will also strengthen teamwork among care providers to build a more connected,  responsive system of care.

Trillium Health Partners is committed to communicating with patients, families, care teams, and  partners as this transition moves forward. Regular updates will be provided to patients, families  and the community. For birthing patients planning to deliver at the Mississauga Hospital before  October 8, 2025, there is no immediate change. Starting October 8, all inpatient hospital care for

women’s health, birthing patients, and children will be provided at the Credit Valley Hospital.

Emergency Departments at both the Mississauga Hospital and the Credit Valley Hospital will  remain fully resourced to care for our community. If specialized inpatient care is required,  Trillium Health Partners teams will ensure timely and safe transfers to the appropriate site.

“This transformation is about much more than moving services to a single site of care—it’s  about reimagining care for women, children, and families in our growing community,” said Karli  Farrow, President and CEO at Trillium Health Partners. “By embedding integrated, inclusive,  and specialized care now at the Credit Valley Hospital, we are building a strong foundation for  the future Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children and setting a new standard for how  care is delivered.”

Renovation work will soon be completed at the Credit Valley Hospital to expand space for  birthing, neo-natal intensive care unit (NICU), and women’s and children’s inpatient rooms. The  renovated space will also include brand new Couplet Care rooms and services, allowing birthing  parents receiving care and NICU babies to stay together in the same space. The redeveloped space is being designed to accommodate current needs while remaining flexible for future  hospital programs.

This integration is part of a larger transformation that focuses on delivering person-centered,  culturally responsive care from birth through adulthood. It’s part of Trillium Health Partners’ plan  to deliver a new kind of health care for a healthier community.

Highlights of the integrated services for women’s and children’s care at the Credit Valley  Hospital include:

Improved access: making it easier for patients and families to navigate care and for  teams to provide it.

Enhanced specialized programs: Trillium Health Partners will continue to expand high impact services such as the Pediatric Sickle Cell Clinic (in partnership with SickKids), the  Perinatal Community Care Program, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine services for high-risk  pregnancies.

Support for talent development: This transformation strengthens Trillium Health  Partners’ role as a leader in women’s and children’s health, ability to attract top clinical  talent, and support future research, teaching, and partnerships.

“This integration is an important step toward realizing the future Shah Family Hospital for  Women and Children,” said ‘Remi Ejiwunmi, Vice President, Shah Family Hospital for Women  and Children. “We are building more than a hospital—we are shaping the future of care for  women and children for generations to come. By integrating our inpatient services now, we are  laying the groundwork for a forward-thinking care that will move with us into our new hospital,  once built.”
