Y Media Big Shot: Dilpreet Singh Bajwa makes history as first Canadian to score a century in Global T20 Canada

A cricketer from Burnaby has made history by becoming the first Canadian to score a century in the Global T20 Canada tournament. Dilpreet Singh Bajwa, who plays for Centurions Cricket Club in the B.C. Mainland Cricket League, hit 100 not out for the Montreal Tigers, leading them to a 42-run victory over the Brampton Wolves on July 30.

Bajwa, 21, achieved this milestone with an impressive display, hitting 10 fours and six sixes in just 55 balls. Montreal, after choosing to bat first, posted a total of 166 for seven. Brampton, in response, was bowled out for 124 in the final over.

Reflecting on his performance, Bajwa shared, “It was my first time opening, and I’m glad I performed well. This league offers great exposure for Canadian players.”

The Global T20 Canada tournament, now in its fourth season, will conclude on Sunday, August 4.
