Authorities in Punjab have revealed that the recent grenade attack on the residence of BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar was orchestrated by individuals associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in collaboration with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
Senior police officials identified Zeeshan Akhtar and Shahzad Bhatti as key figures behind the planning of the incident. According to statements made during a press briefing, the case was cracked within 12 hours of the attack, following an intensive investigation.
The police, working closely with central agencies, launched swift operations and are continuing raids across multiple locations to apprehend other suspects. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, officials have refrained from disclosing the identities of those arrested so far.
An e-rickshaw believed to have been used during the assault has been seized by authorities. Responding to concerns, police officials clarified that the incident did not stem from an intelligence lapse.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has reassigned a top intelligence official, ADGP R.K. Jaiswal, without announcing a new role, prompting speculation amid the ongoing developments.
