17 Feb: Ontario Progressive Conservative (PC) Leader Doug Ford has widened his lead over the Liberals, with just 10 days remaining until Election Day, according to a new Nanos Research poll conducted for CTV News.
The survey, which included 912 Ontario adults, shows the PCs holding 46.4% support among decided voters, significantly ahead of the Liberals at 27%. The NDP stands at 17.9%, while the Green Party has 6.7% support. Compared to the previous day’s polling, the PCs gained 1.2 percentage points, while the Liberals dropped by 2.5 points. Support for the NDP remained largely unchanged.
This marks Ford’s highest level of backing among decided voters since Nanos Research began its nightly tracking on February 6. Nik Nanos, chief data scientist at Nanos Research, noted that the PCs have built a commanding 19-point lead over the Liberals, with strong gains in Toronto playing a crucial role.
Ford remains the top choice for premier, with 40.6% of respondents preferring him for the role. Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie follows with 24.3%, while 15.2% support NDP Leader Marit Stiles, and 7.4% back Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner.
Among both decided and undecided voters, the PCs lead with 41.8%, while the Liberals hold 24.4%. The NDP follows at 16.1%, with 1.8% opting for “other” and 9.9% still undecided.
In Toronto, where earlier tracking indicated a close contest, Ford has now gained a clear advantage. The PCs have 37.4% support in the city, compared to 30.5% for the Liberals, 24.3% for the NDP, and 6.9% for the Green Party.
The survey, conducted between February 14 and 16, has a margin of error of ±3.3 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
