The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) has unveiled the first slate of honourees and performers for the 55th Annual JUNO Awards, taking place Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Hamilton’s TD Coliseum and broadcast live nationwide.
This year’s ceremony will pay tribute to two of Canada’s most celebrated musical figures. Joni Mitchell, one of the most influential songwriters of the past half-century, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award Presented by your National Arts Centre, recognizing her groundbreaking contributions to folk, pop, rock and jazz, and her enduring global impact.
Ten-time JUNO winner Nelly Furtado will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, honouring her genre-shaping influence on 21st-century pop and her international success, including more than 35 million albums sold and billions of global streams.
“Hamilton has always been a city that lives and breathes music,” said Allan Reid, President and CEO of CARAS/The JUNO Awards and CEO of MusiCounts. “Celebrating artists of the calibre of Joni Mitchell and Nelly Furtado is a fitting way to honour Canada’s musical legacy.”
The 2026 broadcast will also feature live performances by Hamilton’s own Arkells, nine-time JUNO Award winners, and The Beaches, winners of Group of the Year at the 2025 JUNO Awards and one of Canada’s most prominent rock acts.
