India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will travel to the United Kingdom from June 25 to 27 for high-level discussions ahead of the implementation of the landmark India-UK trade agreement, scheduled to take effect on July 15.
According to the Indian government, Goyal will hold talks with UK Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle to review preparations for the agreement’s rollout and address key implementation issues.
The discussions are expected to focus on tariff reductions, regulatory coordination, and measures aimed at facilitating trade and improving the movement of professionals between the two countries.
The visit comes as New Delhi and London prepare to operationalize one of their most significant economic agreements in recent years. The trade pact is expected to strengthen commercial ties, expand market access for businesses, and create new opportunities for investment and employment in both countries.
Officials from both sides are also expected to review mechanisms that will help businesses adapt to the new trade framework and ensure a smooth transition once the agreement comes into force.
The India-UK trade deal is part of a broader effort by both governments to deepen economic cooperation, boost bilateral trade volumes, and strengthen strategic ties across sectors including manufacturing, technology, services, and innovation.
Goyal’s visit is expected to provide final momentum ahead of the agreement’s implementation, with both countries seeking to maximize the benefits of closer economic integration and enhanced professional mobility.
