Adani Enterprises has dismissed reports suggesting it plans to launch an airline, stating it is not considering entering the commercial aviation sector.
In a stock exchange filing on Friday, the company said recent media reports and market speculation claiming the Adani Group was preparing to start an airline are “entirely baseless and factually incorrect.”
The company clarified that it is not evaluating any proposal to enter the airline business, putting to rest speculation about a possible expansion into commercial aviation.
The clarification follows reports alleging the Adani Group was exploring changes to regulations that currently prevent operators of Delhi and Mumbai airports from owning more than a 10 per cent stake in a scheduled airline.
While ruling out an airline venture, the Adani Group remains a major player in India’s airport infrastructure sector. Since entering the business in 2019, the conglomerate has grown to operate eight airports across the country, including those in Mumbai, Jaipur and Thiruvananthapuram.
Last month, Adani Airports announced plans to invest more than US$2 billion in commercial developments surrounding six airports. The projects will include hotels, retail centres and office spaces as part of the group’s strategy to develop integrated airport business hubs.
Beyond aviation infrastructure, the Adani Group continues to expand across multiple sectors. Adani Ports operates 15 ports nationwide, including Mundra Port, India’s largest private port by cargo volume.
Earlier this year, the conglomerate also announced plans to invest US$100 billion by 2035 to build AI-ready data centres powered by renewable energy. The group has also partnered with ride-hailing company Uber to establish its first data centre in India.
