Crombie was mayor of Mississauga for a decade before quitting the office for a role in provincial politics. If she registers this year, Crombie would face current officeholder Carolyn Parrish and heavy opposition from Ontario Premier Doug Ford, previously stated he would, “send an army to stop her.”
However, if registered, she would most likely instantly be considered a top contender, and the race might end with a surprising victory from the former Mayor.
