India and Russia have agreed to expand industrial and economic cooperation across several strategic sectors, including aviation, railway infrastructure, critical minerals and mining. The discussions took place during the 12th Session of the India-Russia Working Group on Modernisation and Industrial Cooperation in New Delhi, bringing together around 60 representatives from the two countries.
In the railway sector, the two sides explored cooperation on infrastructure development, signalling equipment and possible Russian participation in a high-speed rail project. Aviation discussions covered unmanned aerial vehicles, aircraft engines and the potential production of a Russian regional aircraft capable of carrying 103 passengers. The meeting also examined cooperation in 3D printing, carbon-fibre technologies, propulsion systems and other areas of industrial modernization.
Critical minerals and mining formed another major part of the talks, with India and Russia discussing lithium extraction, titanium processing, rare-earth exploration, aluminium production, geological exploration and mining equipment. The two countries also considered deeper cooperation on fertilizers, including supplies of diammonium phosphate and NPK fertilizers, as well as prospects for jointly producing urea.
The meeting concluded with both sides signing the session’s minutes and reaffirming their intention to strengthen their strategic industrial partnership. The Indian delegation was led by Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, while Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Aleksey Gruzdev headed the Russian delegation.
