A 36-year-old man has been charged following the abduction of a 14-year-old girl in Kitchener. Police responded to a call around 5:30 p.m. on Monday regarding a break-in and the disappearance of the teenager in the vicinity of Strasburg Road and Rush Meadow Street.
An AMBER Alert was issued for the missing girl, who was later found in Simcoe County by provincial police. The man has been charged with kidnapping using a firearm and breaking and entering with the intent to commit a serious crime.
The victim and the suspect are known to each other, and the investigation is still ongoing, with more charges anticipated. The accused, whose identity has not been disclosed, is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
