Mohamad Lilo Found Guilty in Brutal Frying Pan Attack on Missing Woman Elnaz Hajtamiri

A jury in Barrie, Ontario, has found Mohamad Lilo guilty of aggravated assault in connection with the December 2021 frying pan attack on his ex-girlfriend, Elnaz Hajtamiri, who has now been missing for 1,255 days and is presumed dead.

The assault, which occurred in Richmond Hill in an underground parking garage, left Hajtamiri hospitalized and terrified. Fearing for her safety, she went into hiding with relatives in Wasaga Beach—only to be abducted weeks later, on January 12, 2022, by men posing as police officers. She hasn’t been seen since.

During the five-week trial, the jury heard that Lilo was obsessed with Hajtamiri and had her stalked using GPS trackers and private investigators. He hired multiple men to intimidate and harm her—including Riyasat Singh, who pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, and Harshdeep Binner, who admitted to striking her with a frying pan after hiding for hours.

The court also heard that the December assault may have been part of an initial failed kidnapping attempt, leading ultimately to her disappearance, which police now believe was orchestrated by Lilo.

The case remains one of Ontario’s most disturbing ongoing investigations.
