Prime Minister Modi met with a Sikh delegation in New York, where he was praised for recognizing the historic contributions of the Sikh community

New York (US): During his visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with several members of the Sikh community in New York. Sikh leaders expressed their gratitude for the numerous initiatives undertaken by his administration to support and uplift the community.
Among the attendees were Jasdip Singh Jassee from the Sikhs of America organization and prominent Sikh leader Darshan Singh Dhaliwal from Wisconsin. The meeting offered a platform for meaningful dialogue between the Prime Minister and the delegation, who thanked him for the work his government has done for Sikhs.
“We were so happy, and what a positive feeling we had after the meeting. We greeted the Prime Minister as soon as he walked into the room with the Sikh traditional jaikara of ‘Jo Bole So Nihal,’ and the Prime Minister was so gracious to reply back with ‘Sat Sri Akaal’,” said Jasdip Singh Jassee after the meeting.
Jassee also praised Modi’s efforts, saying, “No other Indian Prime Minister has done as much for the Sikh community as PM Modi, from opening the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor to commemorating Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary, lifting the blacklist of Sikhs who were previously barred from visiting India, and ensuring justice for the victims of the 1984 Sikh genocide during the Congress government.”
The Sikh delegation also expressed their plans to visit India soon with another group to continue discussions with the Prime Minister. “We thanked PM Modi for all he has done for the Sikh community and are planning another visit to India to continue this dialogue,” added a representative from the delegation.
