Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been diagnosed with leptospirosis, a bacterial infection commonly associated with tropical climates. The infection is caused by bacteria found in the urine of infected animals and can be contracted through exposure to contaminated water or soil. Symptoms of leptospirosis include high fever, muscle aches, and nausea.
Dr. RK Jaswal, Director and Head of the Department of Cardiology at Fortis Hospital in Mohali, confirmed that Mann is responding well to treatment. He has been placed on antibiotics and is showing significant improvement. His vital signs are stable, and his pulmonary artery pressure, which had increased, has been successfully managed. Medical tests have indicated satisfactory progress in his recovery.
